How it All Started !

Rick was introduced to golf at the age of 17 after joining the Navy in 1960 and was hooked.

He later worked at Navy golf courses when not deployed with his air wing. The most productive learning experience was when he worked withP.G.A. Professional Jack Harvey at N.A.S. Oceana, Virginia, where he learned a wealth of information, everything from teaching to club repair and managing golf operations.

Rick Musselman was in Fighter Squadron 162 which was on board the USS Oriskany in Vietnam.

Rick was honorably disharged from the Navy in 1973, attendedDelta College in Saginaw, MI.  Rick Graduated from Spartan School Of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK in 1975. After graduating from Spartan School Of Aeronautics, he was hired as an inspector for a copper mining company in Tennessee. He was there approximately two months when he was asked to manage the company's golf course. From there he continued on his lifelong journey in the golf business.

In 1978 Rick  taught golf at the Bay County course, in  Essexville,Michigan.

In the early 1980's Rick would travel to different golf courses to teach, many golf courses in Michigan did not have golf professionals, Rick traveled to three different courses each week to give private lessons and clinics on Saturdays. Note there were no cell phones just beepers it kept his wife Cheryl busy scheduling lessons and notifying Rick which course to go to next. With all of this going on Rick tried to qualify for the Michigan Open and played several P.A.T. qualifying rounds, one at Walnut Hills Country Club in East Lansing, MI.

Rick Musselman took a break from golf in 2001 and took a position with the Millville High School running the evening library and then became Athletic Director. He continued to do club repair and teach golf as a hobby. He retired as Athletic Director in 2005 and as the demand for club repair increased, he opened Golf Services Unlimited, LLC
